Bad Girl!

No, not me! My dog!
I let her roam the house while I went out to do errands tonight, only the second time that I've done that, else she's been confined while I've been away. And what did I find when I returned?

She wasn't at the door to greet me, which was puzzling, but came out from the back of the house after a couple seconds. I let her outside anyway, brought in my treasures, and let her back in. She just acted guilty, mostly because she went to her crate. Figuring it was too much freedom for her, I went to comfort her when I saw the bread heel, partly gnawed. I would have laughed, that she was enticed by week old bread (but it was good, artisan bread!) from the counter, but I realized that now I have to be careful what I leave on the counter. What a bad girl! Luckily, she knew she was wrong and sulked in the crate of her own accord.

I had gone to Costco to see if they had a reasonably priced dog bed, after 3 weeks, it's pretty obvious that I won't be exercising my 1 month right of recission (um, return) with Sierra. She has chosen to sleep in the chair in the office, which is nicely sized for all animals to curl up in. I feel offended by this, that she doesn't sleep in the bedroom, as she doesn't want to sleep on the floor like normal dogs do. Someone spoiled this dog a lot before unceremoniously giving her up in the middle of the night.

When we were in the bedroom, I finally looked up and noticed that a pillow was missing. What the h? I found it on the floor on the far side from where it started out, and she obviously had been lounging on the bed. All bad. The easiest thing is of course to close the door to the bedroom.

She's been a surprising dog; all things considered, she's pretty good. She's still relatively young and likes to play and oh, is she a jumper, but she has a couple quirks that we need to work on. But she's a lover and loves attention; a bit different from my ever aloof Durango.

Not true!

So not true, I really am a cheapskate. I object!

You Are Not a Cheapskate

When it comes to money, you're very fair.
You're generous when you can be, and you never cheat anyone out of what they deserve.
If you have the money, you enjoy splurging. But you never overspend.

Sierra is feeling at home

Sierra has made herself at home. She was very shy at first, hardly wanting to come out of the crate, but she did ultimately venture out on the second day. By the end of the second day, she was curled up in her new favorite chair in the den, with her head hanging over the side.
Tonight we went back to the Humane Society to pick up some meds for her ear, which is inflamed. They didn't have a record of the prescription (sigh) so they'll get that worked out tomorrow with my vet. But Channel 9 was there for some story, with the mobile van antenna up. Once we got home and the news came on, the story was about yet another kennel where the animals were neglected; but the dogs on the story were barking, and Sierra really perked up. I've never known a dog to really pay attention to TV barking.
Tomorrow I'm painting my guest bedroom, so I was taping the woodwork earlier. Sierra stuck right with me, insisting that she wanted to learn to tape woodwork too. She reminded me that Huskies are Working Dogs (see the AKC classification) but furry paws and a lack of an opposable thumb seemed to befuddle all her attempts, and she gave up.
Overall, she's fitting in to the household pretty well. Cat hasn't quite accepted her, but she's made a couple small attempts at getting familiar with her.

The Everything Test

The Everything Test

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

Personality
You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more cynical than idealist, more leader than follower, and more extroverted than introverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are intellectual (60%), greedy (59%).

Stereotypes
Prep62%
Geek60%
Punk Rock53%

Life Experience
Sex33%
Substances8%
Travel32%

Politics
Your political views would best be described as Libertarian, whom you agree with around 58% of the time.
  Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Upper Class. You make more than 0% of those who have taken this test, and 57% more than the U.S. average.

If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG-13.
By the way, your hottness rank is 64%, hotter than 90% of other test takers.

Since I'm doing videos...

I have to post this one too. Be sure that the sound is on at the beginning

More Snow!

It started snowing last night, but only an inch or 2. The weather guy said it wouldn't snow until afternoon today, but he got that wrong. It had started by the time I got off the bus at 8 AM and pretty much kept up all morning. It seems everyone at the office decided it was a good day to work from home.

I however, deciding that the state was becoming wussified at the first sight of a snowflake, decided to go in. Of course the first thing I did when I did get in was to check the bus schedule for the times home, in case it got really bad. I also take seriously the warning that "later routes may be delayed," having been left waiting at the bus stop for much longer than I should have.

Since Boss Lady scheduled a 4 PM meeting, I decided that I should catch the 1:30 bus, which was packed.

The snowblower was still balky at starting, but it did eventually start. It's always much more fun using the blower than shoveling.

Someone asked for pictures, but with all the snow there really wasn't any detail that came across well on a photo, and neither do I have sweeping vistas.

But, I thought I'd try a video. Yes, a video of snow in my backyard; try to contain yourself.

We should get some more snow yet tonight, with another inch or 2 tomorrow. I think I'm going to have to go in to the office again, just because.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd only put the storm as a 7, it isn't that bad

Snow! We had Snow!

On Friday the forecasters were warning of one of the biggest storms ever for February - 12+ inches by the time the storm was done, starting with 3-4 inches on Friday night.

I woke up Saturday morning to, nothing. There was a coating of icy snow, but that was it. When I was out doing errands it did start snowing, big flakes that, with the wind, pelted you, pelted the car. I'd see the flakes hit the car hood and kick up more snow. And then it stopped, after maybe an inch.

Luckily, later in the afternoon it started snowing again, with the wind howling too. Almost a real, old-fashioned blizzard! I took pictures, but it's difficult to really get the sense of everything when it's all the same color, no differentiation between anything, so I stuck a yard stick in the snow and there were 10 inches in the back, and 8 inches in the front.

The snowblower was being balky, and it didn't want to start. I kept at it, as there was no way I was going to shovel all that by hand, and it finally started! So I got a nice clean driveway with minimal effort, though it stopped a couple times, just to annoy me. I was going to start on my neighbor's driveway when it balked again; luckily he stuck his head out the doorway at that point and said to leave it, he'd do it later and he wanted to run the snowblower himself anyway. Good deal.

My neighbor Sue called later and accused me of starting this whole good neighbor thing, as Jerry was then blowing out the driveway of our elderly neighbors, and Brian was blowing out Jessyca's (I hate alternative spellings like that) driveway. When my blower was reliable, I used to do 4 driveways if the snow was deep, figuring that I'd want help if the situation was reversed.

But, pictures:
