Bad Girl!

No, not me! My dog!
I let her roam the house while I went out to do errands tonight, only the second time that I've done that, else she's been confined while I've been away. And what did I find when I returned?

She wasn't at the door to greet me, which was puzzling, but came out from the back of the house after a couple seconds. I let her outside anyway, brought in my treasures, and let her back in. She just acted guilty, mostly because she went to her crate. Figuring it was too much freedom for her, I went to comfort her when I saw the bread heel, partly gnawed. I would have laughed, that she was enticed by week old bread (but it was good, artisan bread!) from the counter, but I realized that now I have to be careful what I leave on the counter. What a bad girl! Luckily, she knew she was wrong and sulked in the crate of her own accord.

I had gone to Costco to see if they had a reasonably priced dog bed, after 3 weeks, it's pretty obvious that I won't be exercising my 1 month right of recission (um, return) with Sierra. She has chosen to sleep in the chair in the office, which is nicely sized for all animals to curl up in. I feel offended by this, that she doesn't sleep in the bedroom, as she doesn't want to sleep on the floor like normal dogs do. Someone spoiled this dog a lot before unceremoniously giving her up in the middle of the night.

When we were in the bedroom, I finally looked up and noticed that a pillow was missing. What the h? I found it on the floor on the far side from where it started out, and she obviously had been lounging on the bed. All bad. The easiest thing is of course to close the door to the bedroom.

She's been a surprising dog; all things considered, she's pretty good. She's still relatively young and likes to play and oh, is she a jumper, but she has a couple quirks that we need to work on. But she's a lover and loves attention; a bit different from my ever aloof Durango.

Darn, I was so expecting some Girl Gone Wild kinda post from the title Bwuahahaha!

We are thinking of getting one of those pet beds at CostCo for Spike. Maybe Sierra can report back to us on how she likes it if you get one.

Glad she is settling in and starting to feel comfortable - maybe a little too! Wait till she learns to open the fridge door....

She likes her bed, which pleases me. It's a bit too big for where I have it placed, but she does sleep there, which is what counts. It also has a nice cedar scent for now, which makes her smell good.

It won't really surprise me when she learns to open the fridge, she's pretty good with her paws and I figure that some day she'll just hook her paw around the handle, and there you have it. Since the availability of real food is somewhat variable, she may be disappointed. As long as she doesn't drink the beer I promise not to hit her.
